So that means your computer didn't completely crash but you were keeping files on your 2nd HDD that died. That's unfortunate. Perhaps considering the value of your labour a 500 GB SSD wouldn't be so expensive.

I have a photo suggestion for you. Considering the photo date and all other pertinent information is embedded in the photo in EXIF, your photos would appear more attractive with the date imprint turned off.

Question:
How many of these are there and is there any "legal" way to obtain them?

Do I see a set of bookends* in your future! Chris got me a spike from where I use to sit and watch trains in North Bay when they pulled up the line between North Bay and Sudbury.

You would think with all the DAR tracks that were pulled up there would a pile of these in Windsor for the picking.

Paul :-)

"books" a device containing printed material similar to what comes out of a printer, keeps paper companies in business.

Don't worry I've got plans to get more of those tie plates if the line ever gets ripped up!

For your hard drive that died, did it just stop working altogether or did it fail and had to reformat it? If you still have the drive I could try some recovery though if your hard drive that failed is a Solid State then I'm not able too, only if it was with normal hard drives.

RAID one is the best and cheapest way to go for saving your important data. I have two RAID ones running in my desktop, what's written to one drive is written to the other both work as one so if one fails I don't loose any data. Only issue is having to wait for the RAID to rebuild when you replace the failed drive as you have period of time where the drive that's still working has all the data and it's the only copy.

Just as an FYI about RAID, RAID 0 is not actually RAID for storage back up setup it's only for having performance for accessing drives, if one drive fails you loose ALL data on the other drive. Though I've once was able to recover data from a RAID 0.

For me I'd like to get a RAID 6 setup someday as I can have two drives fail and the RAID will still work, but that is more of an enterprise class setup and is expensive as you'd need a RAID card that supports RAID 6 and you'd need a minimum 4 hard drives.

Hi Samuel,

When my hard drive died I was shutting the computer off for the night. Normally it took a few seconds to write the FAT count, this particular night it just shut down, I knew there was something wrong. When I tried to start it in the morning there was no count from the night before to compare it to the count it takes when it starts up, so just no go.

I had a back up on an external drive from a couple of months before but I do so much drawing that I lost a lot of raw material, but very little in the programs department. As I said. I'd just uploaded a beta that day and it that point had been uploading the rollingstock I had created for the route to Trainsim.com and here, but losing the raw drawings is still coming back to me as I'm having to draw the same things again for other roads.

The Hard drive just went wile my PC was running a game everything just stopped working for no apparent reason as if windows curppted and froze up I con't open taskmasters or nothing only thing that worked was the start botten and shutdown wen I restarted windows only would load as far as the black loading screen the it would freeze up I tryed running the teck CD to reinstall/repair but it wouldn't load past the screen as soon as i unplugged the 2nd HD it would un windows normley I tested in on 3 PCs to be sure it wasn't a vrise it did the same way so there was no possible way to recover anything it was as if the HD didn't exist. That hard Drive ended up getting a sludge hammer repair job i was already in mood for it and its been a drifflcld week that just put the iceing on the cake.

on a good note i was able to restore the Halifax sub form the session files onto the route and saved in on my scan disk i have 3 exturnle mini thumb drive were i store all my imported data i never use the hard drive to keep stuff on i use thows mini disk things they come as big as 64gb that's were my back ups are keeped.

More News This summer i'm going to and fishing the DAR bike trip to Windsor and its going be a 3 day trip so I'll be takeing a lot of pitchers of the line with another video so if anyone wants me to take pics of a surten spot let me know I plan on recording as much of the DAR as possible before there nothing lift to see at this rate the DAR will be gone in the next 2 or 3 years. Form the looks of it CNs started ripping up track at Windsor Jct agen more of the line is gone form my last video someones been busy removing track.

As someone who is slowly building a HO model of the Kentville Station, it is nice to see your digital version keeping the station alive in a different format. It is fun to see work and Paul Charland's work in these realms.

One easy tweak you might do on the station is the second floor windows on the east end. They always stick out as four by four windows instead of the usual six by six windows which dominated the rest of the building. I had to change that up on my basswood and styrene model.

I love you view of the east end of the yard with the ditch detail in the foreground by the way. Makes it look like a long-lost summer day.
