Fundraiser
A couple of years ago I helped with a fundraising project for the museum. The DARDPI group chipped in to cover the cost of producing several dozen coffee mugs which were maroon in colour, the DAR logo in golden yellow on one side and information about the Middleton Museum on the other side. My understanding is that they sold out last year. I would like to organize another fundraiser and I will once again hand deliver the items to the museum (vacation trip for me and no cost shipping on the goods). The target date would be before next summer. I have some ideas of my own but I would also like to hear from the rest of the group. Lets get started!

Hey Brian,
I'm glad to hear about your project. How about a DAR/Memory Lane license plate?

Hi Matt:
I think that the licence plate idea is a great one, and would definitely take part in this.

Re: Fundraiser
Sounds like an idea, I'll run some ideas by my resident graphic designer and see what we can come up with though it sucks to live in Ontario where we are forced to sport two Provincial plates. Keep the ideas coming lads!

Re: Fundraiser
The mugs sold well, so perhaps another production of mugs would be a safe bet. Key chains are small and cheap so they would probably sell well too. Again, two sided with the same logos used on the mugs.

Re: Fundraiser
Sorry Brian for the super tardy reply. I have been super busy away from home on a number of projects. In fact, I'm still not home but on my way. I should have a bit more time on my hands in the coming months.
I'm willing to chip in again for another cup run. Your offer is extremely generous. Considering how long the cups lasted, another similar run would be appropriate wouldn't you think?
We can do the same PayPal thing we did before too to collect funds. I just have to review what that was!

I had another brainstorm. The Canadian Railway Museum at Delson, Que. has one of the original number plates from the front of the boiler of no. 37: http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... R0037b.jpg I wonder if Delson would allow a mold to be made from it for reproduction in plastic.

Re: Fundraiser
Well actually if we can find someone who makes pins, we could make an AutoCAD drawing of it and submit it to be made into a pin.

We could also have it cast in pewter like the 999 locomotive as well. That's something that a lot of local people do.
Belt buckles?

I think that's a great idea Matt.

Re: Fundraiser
As per the last time we did this, my son, the graphic designer, has a client who can do anything we want done at very good prices. Once we narrow down our picks I can get us some quotes and see what everybody thinks is the best way to go. The mugs would be the quickest and probably the cheapest to do as we already have the artwork done. Brian Lilly

Re: Fundraiser
As much as I like the idea of something different, as the idea is to help the museum, the mugs would end up being the cheapest and they were a resonably good selller for the museum.
Questions:
Does this same company do pins? What would be the art and setup costs for pins? I'm thinking the logo on the website or the DAR steamship lines herald:
http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... _Front.jpg
Does this same company do embroidery? What would the the digitizing costs for the artwork? I'm thinking 2" for caps of aropund 3 inch for custom embroidery on clothing articles.

Mugs are a safe bet.
What about vinyl stickers of the DAR logo on our website? I'd like put on on my car bumper and have it large enough that it can be seen by the following car.

Re: Fundraiser
Stickers would work. That's a good idea. Original tender herald or the colourized D.A.R. herald I fixed up?

The colourized one I guess. Both are nice!

Re: Fundraiser
Caps, embroidery, T-shirts can all be done quite easily. I'll look into the moulded items. Maybe we should post a survey at some point and take it from there. All the ideas posted so far are great.
