File talk:Somerset train wreck.jpg

From DARwiki

Is that a super old box car lettered D.A. 4? Steve

I think that is the back of DAR Snow Plow No. 4. Dan

There we go Dan. That makes sense of course with the access door visable. Steve

I'd love to know the locomotive. Frustrating to have the number plate just barely concealed by the drift! I dug up some info on the wreck from an old clipping. Photo was taken by a T.M. Morton on whose farm the wreck occurred. The DAR paid Morton and 300 others to shovel for over a week clearing the North Mountain Line that winter!

Is that a number above the headlamp? It looks like 4 4 0 or something like that. After looking at a number of photos, this appears to be a 10 wheeler and with the high headlamp we have a few possible matches from our library:

Steve

There certainly is a number there. I think it is 5-?-0 or 3-?-0 but it is hard to tell. It looks like one of the D6 class. Those three matches all sound possible but I think there may be others too.
