An Act was passed by the Parliament of Canada in December, receiving royal assent on April 4, 1911, which authorized the DAR to lease its railway and other undertakings to the Canadian Pacific Railway. (The DAR had a federal incorporation passed by Parliament in 1895 and amended in other years.) A draft version (Bill 53 of 1911) is shown here.

CHAP 72:

An Act respecting the Dominion Atlantic Railway Company.

[Assented to 4th April, 1911.]


[Preamble.] [1895, c. 47; 1900, c. 59; 1905, c. 85; 1908, c. 101; 1910, c. 88.]
WHEREAS petition has been presented praying that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth, and it is expedient to grant the prayer of the said petition: Therefore His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House ; of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:—

[Agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway Co.]
1. Subject to the provisions of sections 361, 362 and 363. of The Railway Act, the Dominion Atlantic Railway Company may enter into an agreement with the Canadian Pacific Railway Company for any of the purposes specified in the said section 361, and may lease its railway and undertaking to the said Canadian Pacific Railway Company; but the approval of the shareholders of the said Canadian Pacific Railway Company to such agreement and lease shall be sufficient if the provisions of section 6 of chapter 47 of the statutes of 1890 are complied with.
