This class DRS-12 of SW1200RS was built by GMD in 1959 and were remanufactured into 1200-series SW1200RSu between 1981 and 1986. Powered by a 12-645C 1200hp engine and geared to 62:15 for a top speed of 65mph.
Only No. 1273 was an original D.A.R. unit remanufactured and returned to the D.A.R. The other SW1200RSu units to operate on the D.A.R. came from other locations in Canada.
