Vernon Smith 1820-1890

Mr. Thomas Timmis Vernon Smith, a civil engineer of London, England, became involved in the promotion and construction of the Windsor and Annapolis Railway in 1865. Vernon Smith was the first Chief Engineer and later became General Manager of the Windsor and Annapolis Railway. His vigorous efforts were essential to the completion of the W & A. He was replaced as General Manager by Peter Innes on April 22, 1872.

In 1871 his name appeared among the 73 shareholders of the Western Counties Railway Company, and in 1872 he severed his connections with the Windsor & Annapolis to become Chief Engineer for the Western Counties Railway.
