Liner notes:
This reproduction of Canadian Pacific's Form M.P. 330, "Classification and Dimensions of Locomotives", has been published with the official permission of Canadian Pacific Limited. The original diagram book was issued in Janayary 1945; a revised edition appeared in February 1947. The elongated 8 1/2 x 4 inch format of both original books has been adapted to 8 1/2 x 11 inch size for ease of handling and compatibility with upright storage.
This reproduction embodies all the the material in the 1947 revision, as well as information on classes D3 (4-6-0), II (4-8-2) and V2 (0-8-0) from the 1945 issue which did not appear in the 1947 revision because these classes had become extinct by that time. Since Canadian Pacific continued to receive new steam motive power until March 1949, sub-classes of G3 and G5 (4-6-2), P2 (2-8-2) and T1 (2-10-4) built in and after 1947 do not appear.
Some of this information, in condensed form, comprises part of the appendices of Omer Lavallées book, Canadian Pacific Steam Locomotives, which was published in 1985 by Railfare Books. The reader is referred to this work for an overall, detailed account of the steam locomotives of what was long known as the "World's Geatest Transportation System".
