Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 28, "Pioneer".
Wheel Arrangement: 2-6-0
Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in April 1904.

- 17.5" x 24" cylinders
- 56" drivers.
No. 28 was the only 2-6-0 to serve on the Dominion Atlantic. The locomotive was built by Baldwin in 1904 for the Midland Railway which ran from Windsor to Truro as Midland Railway No. 4 "Pioneer". The DAR acquired the locomotive along with Midland No. 1, Midland No. 2, and Midland No. 3 (DAR No. 29 - 1st), and when the Midland Line was purchased in 1905. This locomotive became DAR No. 28. It was sold to the Sissiboo Pulp & Paper Co. in Weymouth in 1921.(1)
Name Origins: Tribute to pioneers of the Midland district.
