Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 2209.

No. 2209 was the last steam locomotive to run on the Dominion Atlantic. Built by the Canadian Pacific's Angus Shops in November of 1907, it was sold to the DAR in the last days of steam, arriving on the DAR in November 1957.[1] No. 2209 was the only G1a on the line.[2] No. 2209 retained after full dieselization as a spare, mainly to steam-power the conventional coaches on extra passenger runs. On March 12, 1960, it made the last recorded steam runs on the DAR[3] when it double-headed a "hockey extra" passenger train from Halifax to Kentville with SW1200 diesel No. 8131, hauling 600 hockey fans from Queen Elizabeth High School. The crew for this last steam run to Kentville was Clyde Earle and H. Balsor in the engine, with conductor Donald Hale.[4] while Fireman Gerry Parks and Engineer Harry Balsor ran the train back to Halifax. It was sent to Montreal and scrapped in February 1961.[5]
