Lake Annis, NS

Subdivision Yarmouth, Mile 69.4

Yarmouth Subdivision, Mile 69.37 (from Annapolis Royal), mile 200.23 (from Halifax)

This small stop in the wilderness became a stop for cottagers and vacationers after the railway arrived. The first station was a small shed, replaced in 1904 with a one room shelter with a stove. Facing the station was a mail catch post for trains to snatch mail bags from the small local post office when there were no passengers flagging down the train. In 1947, the station/section house was moved to Lake Annis from Sissiboo Falls. It served until 1962 when the station was moved to Kentville to serve as a maintenance of way tool shed.[1]
