Both DARSANSPAREIL a.jpg and Duke Connaught Kentville 1915.jpg resemble papers from the Parker family, some of which were offered on ebay a couple of years ago by Heriot, a great seller in Maine.
This appears to be an outing with family and friends. The only person in the photograph not identified by name is R.U.P... Rupert Uniacke Parker, DAR General Passanger Agent c1910-1920. There would be no need to enter his full name in their family album.
These have the look of "snapshots" rather than the more formal portraits of the Duke of Connaught. Could the image have been made by Mrs. Parker; she is missing from the photo. (?)
I am guessing the date is summer 1911. The Gifkins' grandchildren Olive and Percy Lovett, ages 9 and 8, were listed in the 1911 census as living with Percy and Annie Gifkins in Kentville.
While this is the first time I have seen this particular page from the album, there was another page with a different "snapshot" view of the children in the window of Sanspareil offered by Heriot. As it was not a particularly good view of the Sanspareil, I did not pursue at the asking price.
We know a fair amount about about the Gifkins and Parker families including how these items found their way into the marketplace; will reserve that until we have files/pages set up for them.
Heriot is a fairly high volume seller although I always found him/her willing to answer questions about her listings. Unfortunately I can, not at present, locate his/her co-ordinates
