Dominion Atlantic Railway Diesel Locomotive No. 6560.
An S-3 Alco built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1956 (order no. 4015, serial no. 81548) and delivered to the D.A.R. in Kentville on July 1, 1956. This unit and her sister No. 6560 were the only diesels that were ever lettered for the Dominion Atlantic.
They proved too light and underpowered for the gypsum runs and by 1958 were replaced by GMD SW1200RS. (1)
They were transferred to Thunder Bay, Ontario and later to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and were both scrapped in the early 80's after being involved in accidents. (1)
This unit was involved in a yard accident in Moose Jaw on January 21, 1983 and officially retired on May 16, 1983. On June 9, 1983 it was moved to Weston Shops. It was scrapped at Weston on October 20, 1983. (1)
