Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 30 "Windsor"

Wheel Arrangement: 4-4-0

Built by the Grand Trunk Railway Shops in June 1883.

  • Builder No. 1123
  • 17 x 22" cylinders
  • 59" drivers.

It began as Grand Trunk Railway locomotive No. 193 and was renumbered GTR No. 261 in 1896. It was acquired by the Midland Railway which ran from Windsor to Truro as Midland Railway No. 2 "Windsor". The DAR acquired the locomotive along with Midland No. 1, Midland No. 3, and Midland No. 4 when the Midland Line was purchased in 1905. However this locomotive only became DAR No. 30 on paper and was soon scrapped.(1)

Name Origins: Windsor, western terminus of the Midland Railway.

Known Photographs: There are no known photographs of this locomotives as Midland No. 2 and it appears it was not lettered or run as DAR No. 30.
