This car was built in 1905 as a 79 foot^[1] ^[2] CPR wooden sleeper "Aylmer". It was converted to DAR boarding car No. 829 in May 1939 and then renumbered as boarding car No. 405809 in December 1958.^[3]

Former sleeper "Aylmer" in MOW service as a boarding No. 879 at Kentville on March 30, 1946.
Track crane No. 414324, boom car No. 412722 and crew car No. 405809, ex DAR 879 by the Kentville Repair Shop in Kentville in August 1961.
