The MV Kipawo most likely serving in Conception Bay, Newfoundland during WWII. This would explain the unknown cityscape, the Naval ensign on the mizzen-mast and the WWII British Naval System "Y" pennant on the fore-mast that indicates she is in Yard service as she was tending anti-submarine nets in the harbour. It appears that all the people on board are dressed in naval uniforms and that the nets can be seen hanging from the boom on the fore-mast.
