Spur Track D Kingsport 1961 to 1993

This two mile long spur was the remnant of the Kingsport Subdivision, known locally as the CVR (Cornwallis Valley Railway).

It was created on January 31, 1961 when the subdivisions north of Kentville, the Kingsport Subdivision and Weston Subdivision were abandoned, reducing the branchline to a 2.3 mile long spur from Kentville to Mill Village (Steam Mill). The main customers were several large bulk plants at Steam Mill (Ralston Purina and Fundy Fertilizer in 1968) as well as some seasonal traffic to Camp Aldershot.(1)

On September 22, 1993, CP Rail formally abandoned all track west of New Minas (mileage 52.9), including the Kingsport Spur from mileage 56.1 of the Halifax Subdivision to the end of track in Mill Village (Steam Mill).
