This small coastal steamer carried freight and passengers. It was at first operated by the "Evangeline Navigational Company" to connect the "missing link" between the Windsor and Annapolis Railway at Annapolis Royal and the Western Counties Railway at Digby. When Annapolis Royal and Digby were finally connected by rail, Evangeline was bought by the Dominion Atlantic to connect railway service at Kingsport with Parrsboro. In 1904, Evangeline was replaced by the SS Prince Albert.
