Re: DAR/NSTrainz Route
Just before the curve in the road was a small Irving outlet, they had six oil storage tanks near the St Croix River and were lettered to spell out I R V I N G ... one letter per tank. The track crossed the road and curved about 15 degrees away from the road and ended at Brockville Chemicals.
Oddly enough, Windsor Textile didn't have a siding, or at least nothing after the late sixties if ever. They did ship through the freight shed in LCL shipments.

Re: DAR/NSTrainz Route
I've been trying to find pictures of the Windsor Yard pre-Highway 101 because other then the general layout of what is there now not sure what went where. And as for that spur you see going towards where those old Oil Tanks were that's still there and when I walked the Truro sub last November you could see where it connected to the main line. I need to investigate that spur some more as there could still be a few ties buried in the ground.
In Gary's new book he has a few good pictures with different angles of the Windsor yard near the station that I want but I don't think there's anything that really shows off towards the Oil tanks. David might have some more photos with the Oil tanks in the back ground which might show the spur.

Yea I plan on going up that way this spring ( if anythings stell there ) and complete my 2nd video toure but its going be a week long hike on the bike as soon as the snows gone I'll go up. I'll ask David about the pic he and I are in the same club.
WHRC Tonner heading to millers creek.

You can kindly see the old tanks in the background.
Here the sideing going up to the oil tanks

This is the oil tank farm I moved the sideing over abit to make room and had the sideing split off up a small hill to it and the rest went across the road to the warehouse 300m form the road.

I massed up on the scale here abit over throw the highway trainz works in 5 different scales so its harder to get it dead on.

Re: DAR/NSTrainz Route
There was only one spur serving both Irving and Brockville Chemicals. Brock Chem was on the other side of the track, a rather simple looking gray warehouse with gable ends, 2 storey 24 x 128. Irving had no refinery type structures, just the storage tanks, a small storage building near on the north side of the crossing where they received lubricant oil in boxcars. There was also a small building just to the north west of the crossing for employees and a parking lot. Oil was shipped from their refinery in Saint John NB by sea, stored in these tanks, and distributed by truck.

Re: DAR/NSTrainz Route
I understand about the buildings, I drew my own for the MSTS route. This looks a lot better with the single siding serving both customers. Is there a way you can place a second of those gray buildings end to end to make it look like one longer building for Brock Chem?
I think Irving's would have been served with a barge and tug... maybe someone else can say for sure.

Re: DAR/NSTrainz Route
Yes I am pretty sure Irving used tugs and barges. This spur by the way once kept going and served the Colonial Fertilizer Plant which was to the west of the tanks.
Anyone who wants to see the pre-101 tracks in Windsor should visit the Halifax Dept of Natural Resources. They have air photos back to the from the present day back to the 1930s and 40s.
