Commisioned DAR china

Post by briantrainman »

While on my trip to Middleton to deliver the mugs, I decided to try and find one of my relatives who I believed had returned to live at his old family home in Deep Brook, near Digby and Bear River. As things change over the years this was not a simple task. What used to be the main highway is now a dead end road, the local gas station which used to be my main referance point, has had a house built around it and the huge cherry tree at the top of the driveway is nothing but a 6 inch stump and the farmland next door is now housing. After several passes I spotted the mailbox with the Ditmars name on it and introduced myself to my long lost cousin who I had not seen in over 40 years. I filled him in on my involvement with the DARDPI and why I just happened to be in the neighborhood. It was then shown something that blew me away. I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking. And so the China is now where 42 years later after the article? This would be a great story for the wiki. Is a photo of the china available?

Very cool.

The four pieces of china shown in the photographs currently belong to my cousin Ed Ditmars who resides in Deep Brook. He is not aware of the location of the pieces mentioned in the newapaper article. It was only after mentioning my involvement with the DAR DPI that I found out about them. This may be a lesson to us all. When talking to family members or even aquaintances, mention the DAR DPI, it's purpose and your involvement. You never know what people have stashed away in their closets that are just waiting to be revealed to an interested party.
