DAR/CPR427?

Post by engineeral »

The Canada Science and Technology Museum shows a picture at:
http://www.images.technomuses.ca/search ... 77&lang=en
which the museum says was a CPR / DAR locomotive. The 1935 picture has Canadian Pacific lettering on the tender. It's a 10-wheeler.

Is the museum wrong that this loco served on the DAR? It isn't in the motive power list on the wiki at

Also the picture at http://www.images.technomuses.ca/search ... 88&lang=en says CPR 844 served the DAR but it's not on the wiki list.

Plus http://www.images.technomuses.ca/search ... 85&lang=en Loco 1056 - looks like the picture is taken at Weston Yard, Toronto (stock and reefer car, steel truss light tower). Was it ever on the DAR?

http://www.images.technomuses.ca/search ... 30&lang=en No. 1078.

As none of the photos actually located the engines at a known DAR locations, and failing that the lack of DAR livery, I would say that until such information surfaces that these are perhaps erroneously labelled DAR locos. I think we already know the majority of locos which served a year or more but there still are probably shorter terms loaners we haven't found yet. Hopefully in the future as our collection grows, photographic or documentary evidence will surface with more of these short timers.
