Ken McIlvoy's DAR Charts

Post by stem »

I though I'd start the thread here only because those were the first drawings received. We have no overall line forum yet no one of each and every sub so this will suffice for the purposes of this discussion.

I have yet to upload any of them yet but I will in the next 24 hours.

I already have lots of questions about the notations.

Is there any consistency to the meaning of the number that is either written aboive or below the name on the chart?

Sometimes the number above or below the name will agree with the mileage of the station but often it doesn not nor does it convert to metric. So why the difference in number from what we know is the tried and true mileage of certain stations?

On the elevation line at the bottom of the chart, is there a consistent form and what exactly do most of these notations mean? I assume they are describing structures and features yet what exactly might mean "+25 WB 1'-0" x 1'-0" x 16", No. 91.49" ??

I have already figured out one of my questions at least to the point where I know what the difference is on all the mileage figures. Occaisionally, someone has marked out the number below the name of the chart and replaced it with another figure above the chart. The difference is 27.58 miles. If you take every chart and subtract 27.58 miles you will come up with the correct mileage according to all the schedules and the 1969 General Memorandum. Take note as well that the Annapolis Royal chart has a mileage of 28.83 miles instead of 0.

I was not aware that the start of the Yarmouth Sub was shifted to Middleton at one time.

I have added to the file names as a prefix YA for the Yarmouth sub and the mileage based on the start of the sub at Annapolis Royal.

Any firther information regarding this discovery would be gratefully accepted.
