Lawrencetown to Paradise

Post by Paul Charland »

Hi All,

Ten more miles of the DAR Kentville Sub completed, thought I'd post a few shots.

Train 2 stops at the crossing that acts as the Paradise "station". Paradise is actually a few miles away but this is as close as the DAR got.

Train 2 passes the Annapolis County Fair Grounds as it approaches the Lawrencetown station.

As the sun sets, Train 26 heads north through farmland towards Kentville.

Train 26 passes the Lawrencetown station as it stops to lift an empty from Maritime Co-op. The grey building to the left is the original station, moved across the tracks and turned ninety degrees to make room for the new station in 1928. The old station still stands today.

And so does the 1928 station. Not in great shape and slowly sinking into the ground however.

Hi Ric,

Guess the fire department bought all the ex-DAR land on the east side, so not sure how long the new station will last. A reported was trying to drum up interest in moving the original station back to it's original spot and restoring it, guess he was inspired by the restoration of the Middleton station.
