MSTS D-10 Coming Soon

Post by Paul Charland »

Hi All,

Trainboy 6218 posted a couple of shots of a DAR and CPR D-10 he has been working on for MSTS this morning.

http://www.elvastower.com/forums/index. ... ge__st__60

I've asked if he could replace the maroon background on the logo with black. A pair of these will look great running a freight through the Valley or hauling older gypsum cars.

OMG. Beautiful!

So is this any particular D10 by any particular builder? If so, we have suggestions for DAR numbers to match the type and builder to maintain accuracy.

D10g: There is one CP Angus and one CLC built: http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Category:D10g
D10h: There are 11 MLWs and 5 CLC built: http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Category:D10h
D10k: There are 3 Schenectady built: http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Category:D10k

Is a drawing of a D10 frame of any use?

So is he going to be doing a Pacific as well? (hope hope hope)

Hi Steve,

To be honest I think the model is an "off the shelf" ten wheeler that's been modified to appear to be an D-10... but, it's not looking too bad and does have the proportions of a D-10. Maybe someday when I finish what I'm doing I'll have a go at starting one from scratch, but for now, this one should do the trick.

As for a Pacific, there is one out now, just needs to be relettered with the DAR logo and a number change.

I was thinking of your Kingsport Sub when this came to light a few weeks ago,,, and a serious modification to the Windsor track... not to mention a real reason to head to Truro if I last that long.

Well even an off the shelf job would be great if it has a few key visual clues to make it look kind of CPish.

Items that will make it look more CPish would be the tender, the smoke stack, bell and towers arrangement, an all weather cab and 60" or so drivers.

As it's a generic model, I'd love to see a number 999 and a number 1111 for fun.

Looking forward to seeing the Evangeline herald on the tender! That last one you did for the mugs is perfect.

I actually have two Pacifics from the Heritage set. Just remembered.

I have the complete set of O Show Me Plans for all the steam in Canada, over a hundred pages. I am going to scan them and put them on DVD's and anyone who is interested may have it free if your going to use it to build some of them for MSTS. I want to preserve this set for the future. But I am willing to share.

Sorry to take so long to moderate your post. It's something that's lacking on phpBB is some kind of notification that moderation of posts is required and so I miss looking at it regularly.

Your post is much appreciated and so is your offer. I for one would love a copy. I love to 3D model and wish to take a crack at some steam so this would be invaluable.

Hi Rick and Steve,

I found a set of line drawings on the CP Sig site a little while back. I'm still thinking of doing a set of D-10 from scratch for the Kingsport Sub so I can get the engines in both DAR and CPR that were common on the DAR for the late 40s... might be six or eight with the different tenders. Also saw a shot of a model of a D-10 in all maroon and if that turns out to be authentic would do one of them as well.

Might be a while, feeling a little burned out after v2. Get up in the morning and my hands feel like someone's been standing on them all night and haven't felt like drawing much.
