The Cosmo's Cotton Mill was very important to the economy of the town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia for many years until its demise in the late 60's. Its importance to the town was measured by its employment of many town residents - in excess if 600, many of them being entire families. As well, the ship building industry in the town was booming in the 20's and 30's and the mill supplied that industry with miles and miles of rope as well as canvas used in sail making.
Situated in the North end of the town at the very edge of the Yarmouth Harbour and also very near the northern end of the harbour, it still today remains a prominent land mark as well as a vivid reminder of times long past. The rail line for the DAR ran within feet of the mill and was seen by all who travelled into and out of the town by rail.
For this reason, I feel that the Cottom Mill deserves its rightfully earned spot in the world of MSTS.
I still have a bit of work to be done on the building so let's say this is version .01. I would like to make the windows be light at night which would add some "life" when the old steam engine arrives from the Valley.

Harold.. this look great! The only thing that struck me was, were the bricks really that big on the building? Apart from that, looks like a dead ringer. Great windows and stack. Was that a steam plant chimney?

Hi Steve - Thanks for your comments.
No, The bricks were a standard size, but that's what happens when creating your own textures. Especially difficult in a 256x256px area. These things I will have to work out as I go and is all part of the process.
History and details about the Cotton Mill are pretty hard to find, but I will try my luck at the Yarmouth CO Museum to see what I can find out there. Yarmouth was essentially a coal-Burning town so I would assume that that was a steam heating plant for the mill.

I had to agree with Steve about the bricks, so went to work this eve and retextured the mill with new bricks - well - they were new in the late 1800's. So here is what I came up with and I feel the building has taken on a whole new look which is quite close to what stands there today.
