The Boston Boat Sails Again

Post by hecrowell »

Finished up prototype this evening. This model is the Boston Boat Wharf with the SS Yarmouth tied up. Eastern Steamships building which was also the Customs building, DAR Baggage shed and trestle from wharf to shoreline also included. Can hardly wait till I can place track for the Boston Boat Wharf spur off the main line.

Wow. I'm imagining already the Kipawo at Kingsport and the Princess Helene at Digby!

This had to be the most exciting time at the Yarmouth wharf with the tourism traffic at it's peak, the Pacifics pulling those turn of the century 1st class parlour cars and observation cars right onto the wharf, the express freight cars loaded to the hilt with Annapolis Valley apples on their way to US markets... it must have been a sight to see!

Well, Steve - the SS Princess Helene should be easy to do - - as a matter of fact, now having done the SS Yarmouth, the Helene is already done except maybe for some minor paint scheme - she was a sister to the Yarmouth. I see a few pictures on the WIKI where a ship with 2 funnels is docked at the wharf - believe it may be the SS Boston.
The Kipawo is another matter but seeing the picture of her on the WIKI, she should be easy to do - much smaller and not as many "frillies". BTW - looking for a better picture - - - any ideas?
Today, I am back on line after a nasty nearby lightening strike that fortunately for me only caused me some software issues and my flash drive had to be reformatted after using software to retrieve some of the data on that...oh well - tis the way things go, sometimes. MSTS is now re-loaded as well as DAR_2b beta from Paul. I forgot how many other pieces of software I needed to get that all running without errors.
Anyway - - - - - - - now off to some of the old Yarmouth Buildings...........
