You're welcome Jim, had fun doing Cornwallis, been in 30 of the buildings, 31 if you include the Canex I ended up deleting.

Here's something most wont see unless they know it should be there and go looking for it:

All of them. They are a ways from the track and you wouldn't see them unless you went looking for them. Had to draw them because I know they were there. The naval gun is gone now, just the tank and the T-bird there now.

What kind of tank is it? Looks as small as a Sherman.

Hi Steve,

Yes, it's a Sherman tank.
CornTank.jpg
Not sure what the naval deck gun was from, the only thing I could find was it's a common Commonwealth design used during the 40s and 50s.

Good day yesterday, got the Bear River Bridge drawn.

... about to start the highway bridge that's beside it.

Nice bridge. Can you get the centre span to turn on Open Rails?

After doing a little research, it appears that tank is a Sherman V or Firefly with a British 17 pounder gun.

And how's what's left of the Clarke Brother's mill going?

Hi Steve,

No, I don't imaging any of the swing bridges along this stretch of the DAR turned in decades either!

I'm still working on infrastructural, finished the two bridges at Joggins and the highway bridge beside the Bear River bridge yesterday. I have two more bridges to go and then I'll start adding structures.

I've only seen the one shot of one of the bridges open:

A lot of extra engineering and cost!

High maintenance costs too, think they would have also had to pay for a bridge tender or two as well. When I was looking for pictures of the Bear River Bridge on Google one of the searches I did turned up a shot of what they said was the Joggins bridge with a Canadian Navy Corvette going through in the 50s. I wasn't totally sold that the shot wasn't mislabeled, it was going though a swing highway bridge that was about the correct length of the Joggins highway bridge but I thought I should have been able to see the rail bridge in the foreground but I couldn't. I'm not a navy guy, so I'm not sure what the last Corvette was retired, could have been training out of Cornwallis, so it might be labeled correctly. I'll try to find the shot again.

Here are some more shots between Deep Brook and MP 17, just north of Digby.

Train 1 crosses the 1640 foot long Bear River bridge.

Image

South of the bridge was a favorite place for photographers in the days when trains were longer coming through the S curve along the shore of the Annapolis Basin.

Image

Not much in Bear River now, just a siding and a few summer homes.

Image

Crossing the Big Joggins River bridge.

Next stop, Digby.

Nicely done! Can you imagine the engineers 125 years ago designing these structures to "bridge" the gap?

I can hardly wait to see Digby though. For some reason that really excites me to see Digby modelled!

Hi Steve,

I'm kind of happy to be starting Digby too. I've been going through the 1974 phone book looking up customer's addresses and then finding what remains on Google Earth.
