Thanks Paul. A labour of love stretching over 3 years, this 70s era route for D.A.R. fans is a masterpiece. The rails have long gone but you have given us the opportunity to live it and see it again.

Now available in the file section of this forum. Remember to DL all the other great rolling stock files you will need to run this route and the activities Paul has designed.

Also available on http://www.trainsim.com where as of this moment, it has already been DLed 575 times. It's a hit Paul.

Ahh... just saw this message. Train-Sim is only a web site for files that can be added to the sim from complete routes to rolling stock individual items.

What you need to run this is a simulator program. The original Microsoft Train Simulator was released in 2001:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Train_Simulator

Your best bet now as it's not likely you find a copy of this for a decent price nor would you probably enjoy the fact it doesn't support wide screens is to use the Open Rails simulator which will run MSTS routes.

You can find it and all the instructions to install it here:
http://openrails.org/

So after you've given that a shot be yourself, if you have more questions, feel free to ask here on this thread.

Hi Thomas,

I don't think you need to register to download files, I think that's only for using the forum, but that isn't a bad idea.

You should be looking for DARv2, that's the current version that includes the Halifax and Kentville subs along with 8 miles of the Truro sub. I'm working on v3 that will add the YHarmouth sub.

You said you downloaded MSTS... where did you find that to download? What version of Windows do you have? You'll also need the one and only MSTS update, then you'll need the current versions of xTracks 3.20 and New Roads 4.0... and once they are installed the last thing you'll need is BIN 1.8something. All of these are in the library at Trainsim.com.

As Steve said, you might want to download the current version of Open Rails. This will one day replace MSTS. It's free and can be found at http://openrails.org/

Open Rails handles graphics differently them MSTS and routes run much smoother.

Paul :-)

Thanks guys.
I'll get on it right away. I assumed wanting train simulator I would go to Microsoft downloads. Saw trainsim for 3.00$ and downloaded it. Was wondering if it was the msts however it's from the Microsoft sight so start with assumptions. I'll try open rails and see how it goes. Again thanks.
I run windows 10 on a Sony vaio laptop that I use for not much else other then downloading train pics and info.

Hey guys. I checked and meet all the system requirements for openrails. Downloaded it and the darv2 files from the wiki with a few other files for engines and cars. I get the openrails profile of darv2 but nothing else. No routes or anything. Did I not unzip the files properly ?
I am also having trouble accessing trainsim.org. Can log on but I am not authorized yet. Have been waiting over a week for the authorization e mail.
Oh well. I'll wait for trainsim to respond and download your suggestions from there and give it another go.

OK, you're using Windows 10 and I'm using 7 so things might work a little differently then they do here.

In the Activities folder there are a few files and folders that need to be copied to various places and some folders, it's just the contents that need to be moved and not the folder. There are installation instructions near the bottom, did you complete this?

I left the paths, traffic, and services with the route, but if you didn't move the consists I don't think the route would function in OR (with at least one working consist).

You may find you'll get an error in the Tr 1 activity, there are three pieces of rolling stock that Route-Riter missed because I deleted them from an activity, but for some reason they didn't get deleted from the static consist. We'll deal with that when you get that far!

Paul :-)
