Thanks for the heads up on poly count for locomotives and source of the program. I downloaded it and will have a good look at your instructions before proceeding. Maybe this would be a good time to make backup copy of what I already have

This valve train is a Baker Outside Admission according to Charles Dockstader. (Bake_OUT.exe)
According to:

this was a competitive valve train to the Walschaert. You can see by comparing Charles' diagrams that this is very clearly a Walschaert derivative.

By the way.. just wanted to say thanks Harold as this ended up being a great education and I found out more about valve trains than I ever knew before. I guess the thing is that my knowledge of this subject was based on my reading over the last x years of book in my personal library, but didn't ever include the wealth of info now available on the internet.
