My find today at the NS provincial archives is nothing short of astonishing. A 1939 home movie of 2552 painted maroon, leading a passenger train out of the Halifax station with a string of wooden cars. I have been hunting for DAR film and photos for nearly 30 years, and this is a first: a non-black DAR steam engine!
I don't yet have permission to share the film. There are other train films I'm pursuing getting digitized. I am working with the NSRHS on this project. Details will come later.
