DAR "superfan" brunch

Post by downeastrailfan »

Last Sunday I organized a brunch at the Old Orchard Inn, near Wolfville. There there three DAR fans visiting the Valley, two of whom were in attendance (Alexandre Stuart and Jeff Keddy). Gary Ness, Nelson Godden, my girlfriend and myself were present, which made for an ideal sized group to sit and converse with each other. Afterwords, Jeff, Nelson, Alexandre and myself did a run-by with my horn at Grand Pre. Nelson shot video so I'm sure he will upload that to his channel at some point.

Jeff had to cut and run as he wanted to take in a rare lighthouse opening in Margaret(s)ville. Next, Nelson, Alex and myself went to Kentville Yard and walked the CVR a short distance. Then we scoped out around the old fertilizer plant in Steam Mill and upon talking to a local, he showed us the old right-of-way behind his house. After that, we went to see the former Billtown station, which was moved to the farm owned by Shelly and Jeff Bain. Samuel and I visited this station 5 years ago and a lot has changed. The interior has been turned into a cottage/stop for snowmobile riders and a work shop for Shelly's stone cutting. The bathroom is really neat; the walls consist of old doors. We gave Shelly a demonstration of the horn while Alexandre had the honours.

It was a great day and I hope to organize a similar event in the future. If anyone is interested, let me know.

Thanks Matt. Sure sounds like the group had a lot of fun! More pictures when you have the chance and especially a link to the vide with the horn!
