DARv3 Digby to Weymouth

Post by Paul Charland »

Hi All,

Seventeen more miles of the DAR completed, next stop Church Point!

Train 1 and 2 meet at Digby each day and at 1250, they go their separate ways.

In the early 1970s the DAR closed and leveled most station along the line, for a lot of them like Acaciaville, the nearest crossing became the station.

Image

North Range became another crossing without a station.

Image

Plympton as well. The station was just outside these communities. Most were just a passing siding used as the team track and little more.

Train 1 arrives at Weymouth.

Weymouth was one of the few to keep it's station until it too was removed in the mid 80s.

Just south of the station the DAR crosses the Sissiboo River over a 1277 foot bridge.

Hi Paul:

You've done a fabulous job of capturing the Digby and surounding areas!! Thanks so much for sharing these.

The Weymouth station and the bridge look so good Paul. The Weymouth station always seemed reminiscent of the Kentville station to me. Nice to see it live on as well.

You might well be the John Allen of the digital age.

Thanks Jim and Steve,

I'm down to finishing planting trees between Weymouth and Meteghan, might take another day or two.
