The Digital DAR - An MSTS Route

Post by stem »

The Digital DAR, a dream for many, has been completed by Mr. Paul Charland.

Set in the mid seventies, the mainline route from Windsor Junction to Yarmouth, the Steam Mills spur and the Midlands branch to Brooklyn has been faithfully recreated by Paul over the last 9 years. This was a labour of love and it shows. The towns of Windsor, Wolfville, Kentville, the Greenwood Air Force base, Kingston, Middleton, Annapolis Royal, the bridges to Digby and the Cornwallis base, Digby town and The Pines and on to Yarmouth are especially accurate and well detailed.

Paul has also created all the necessary rolling stock for the railway so that the immersion is complete.

I consider this a priceless donation as the time spent on this recreation runs into years and yet Paul has donated this route for all to enjoy. Perhaps one day, we will even see it running as a permanent display at the Memory Lane Railway Museum!

We have all the necessary files stored here on the forum if you would like to roll your sleeves up and get cracking on the DAR right away. Please click on the link to go right to our file section:

Take time as well to browse the messages in the area for screen shots and the running dialogue as Paul worked on this.

Further to the post that has been up since 2012, Paul has continued to improve the route and is now at Version 3. Now featuring new Dayliners, Steam Engines and upgraded SW1200RSs along with higher detail on the route and extended to Bedford.

He is currently working on a 1956 version with things like a rotating turntable at Kentville, the original bridge and track through the town at Windsor and the Cornwallis Valley and North Mountain sub-divisions. We don't expect it for another year or two because of the technical challenges but one day... cross your fingers!

In the meantime, send me a PM if you need the latest greatest files as the ones listed in the first message are Version 1 files. I just haven'y got araound to removing them yet.
