Yes, that might be the first candidate. Blue nose with the leaf on the front of the cab, the wave would wrap around the back of the unit, and the numbers would move from the cab to above the radiators if there is not enough room on the cab.

OMG Paul that's basically what I was thinking of for doing up for a type of paint scheme for my Nova Scotia Railway model, As I've decided I wanted to run my layout as what if type of world, where the NS Government took over the short lines in NS. Paul your hired for my template design! As my thinking for my scheme was to use white and blue which is mostly in the NS flag and also using some gold and red here and on it for the crest that in the flag. But I'm not sure how I'd want to incorporate the gold and red. I sort of wanted to copy what CBCNS done with the Lion but then again just put the full crest on or maybe use Thistle Flower for Scottish history, as using the May Flower wouldn't really work as it's white but then again you could put it into the blue section.

There was a thread on Trainsim one Friday about "what if" schemes. It took me twenty minutes to put this "what if..." the province took over the DAR after the 99 year lease was up:

Hi Samuel,

Could put a red and gold crest under the cab window.

I've been thinking of an RDC paint scheme... for the mainline to Yarmouth plus the Halifax/Dartmouth commuter service. If you take a Nova Scotia flag and place the crest under the right front window and turn it so the top blue stripes go up and curves to run down the letterboards, the bottom stripes would keep going down until the ran out of RDC, I think one would run diagonally down across one door. I don't have a raw RDC here to work it out though and It's probably not something you can just reskin on an existing model.

You nailed it Paul! I really like the reduced size font on one line.

This looks entirely plausible and is a great "what if."

I just thought you could do a "DA Rail" and take up the same space as CP did but I still like the spelled out single line version. After I had posted it I thought I should have raised it about eight inches so it would lay between the two upper ladder rungs.

The CP Rail lettering is along the top of the hood doors. It would make sense to follow the CP practice for authenticity. That would avoid the ladder issue you mentioned.

Hi Samuel,

It's called "Script MT Bold". Do you have Corel Draw by any chance, I still have the Corel files here. It's not the same script as Canadian Pacific used, when I lettered the script SWs I had to trace the lettering for them.

I don't have Corel I do have Word and I do have the font! And that font does work better for displaying Nova Scotia Railway then some of the other font scripts that I've tried.

Yes, the thin parts are thick enough to show from a distance and it's not as loopy as some scripts... worked for me!

hmm that gives me an idea for a paint skin for The Halifax Sub a top secret DAR project...


If the DAR was modern I think the logo would look like this with keeping with the CP Colors but going for its own look for the curt day.

I figer the DAR would upgrade to something more modern and use some GP35-2s have abit more power and cheaper on fuel then 4 SW1200s but perhaps they can go into buying a propane driven unit.
