Most of these are found in Québec and farther west. They are stamped 'CP Rail' on the collar. From what I can gather, they were kept in the caboose and were rarely used, and often ended up collecting dust. After liquid fuel lanterns were outlawed on trains, a good portion of these 639's were scraped, another portion went home with the railway workers, and the rest were sold by CP Rail as surplus.
But can anyone confirm if these were used on the Dominion Atlantic Railway? I have a fond interest in both Coleman Canada and the Canadian Pacific Railway. Finding one of these within Nova Scotia that was used on the DAR would be amazing.
Anyway, just wondering if these were indeed used here in Southwest Nova (if anyone knows).
Thanks
